Youth Protection & Abuse Prevention

The safety and well-being of children and teens in our care is, and always will be, our top priority. We are committed to creating safe environments where young people can learn, grow and thrive—and to continuously strengthen our practices to protect children from abuse.

Accreditation Journey

The YMCA of the Triangle, including all 19 branches and three overnight camps, has begun the process of earning Praesidium Accreditation, a rigorous, nationally recognized standard for preventing sexual abuse in organizations that serve children and vulnerable adults.

Through this accreditation process, the Y is strengthening policies, training and practices to further reduce risk and reinforce a culture of safety across all programs. This work reflects our ongoing commitment to providing safe, trusted environments where children and families can thrive.
