Get the Most from your Membership

Orientations, 8 Weeks to a Better You and Start Strong are all programs for new YMCA members.

Start Strong

Start Strong is a multi-week program offered to new YMCA members. You can explore different workouts, set goals, and become familiar with the facility. A wellness coach leads all meetings with a small group of members. The goal of Start Strong is to equip you to make the best decision about your fitness journey.

8 Weeks for a Better You

Every new YMCA member is automatically signed up for this fun, easy challenge. Visit the YMCA at least twice a week during the first eight weeks of your membership and receive prizes like T-shirts and water bottles.

Take a walk on our indoor track, hit a high-intensity spin class or strike a pose in Yoga. We've got lap swim lanes, group fitness classes, free weights, workout machines and a supportive, welcoming staff to help you establish your new workout habits and routines.

Equipment Orientations

Equipment orientations are for adult and teen members.

All YMCA adult and teen members can take a wellness floor equipment orientation. These are designed for members to familiarize themselves with the equipment, understand how to use it safely and correctly and learn wellness floor etiquette.

Equipment orientations are complimentary and available to new or current members. Schedules and times are available on our website and in our mobile app. All orientations are free.

Adult Equipment Orientation

The adult equipment orientation is for members ages 18 and older.

Our trained wellness staff will take you on a guided tour of the cardio and weight rooms, show you how to operate the equipment, and explain what you need to know to feel comfortable using the wellness floor. Sign up for your adult equipment orientation today!

Teen Orientation

YMCA teen members (ages 11 – 13) can sign up for fitness classes, use the cardio equipment, machine weights, the gym and pool lap lanes without adult supervision once they have completed a teen orientation. Teens 14+ may use all equipment, including free weights, without adult supervision.

Before a teen member (ages 11 – 13) can use lap lanes or the pool, they must take a swim assessment. A swim assessment allows the YMCA to consistently assign safe swimming areas based on swim abilities. Once assessed, swimmers wear a swim band indicating where they are allowed in the pool.

Wellness floor staff will take teens on a guided tour of the wellness floor and ensure teens understand safety, etiquette and how to properly adjust the machines. All teens are encouraged to take an orientation to get the most out of their membership.

Please download this document, sign the waiver and bring it with you to your teen orientation. Sign up for teen orientations here.

After your teen has completed a teen orientation, their parent or guardian may authorize them to use the YMCA mobile app to book fitness classes.
