Targeted Support

For students identified by their schools as needing extra support, Y Learning Intervention focuses on strengthening foundational reading and math skills through 25–30 weeks of instruction. Beyond academics, students engage in activities that support healthy living and character development.

Our programs are led by trained, vetted YMCA professionals who provide safe, inclusive support through strong supervision, low staff-to-child ratios, ongoing training and close collaboration with families, including those with special needs.

Certified teachers deliver a structured curriculum in a 1:8 classroom ratio, aligned with School Improvement Plans and district priorities. Outside of intervention time, the program operates on a 1:12 ratio for activity time that includes a variety of games and activities designed to promote physical fitness,
social-emotional learning and academic engagement.

Y Learning Intervention is not open for public enrollment, as participating students are selected by their schools. It is funded through the YMCA Annual Campaign and offered at no cost to families.
